The chimeric antibodies are created by fusing variable domains from mouse monoclonal antibodies with human constant domains. Chimeric antibodies do not reduce the affinity or specificity of antibody, and are less easily rejected by the body’s immune system, which are valuable tools for in vivo and in vitro research. With a fully human Fc, chimeric antibodies can also mediate complement-mediated cytotoxicity (CDC) and antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC).
